I am having trouble with corrosion on the battery tray. I read in a recent issue of a motor home magizine about some new vent caps that will prevent the venting that seems to cause this corrosion. Anywone remember the name of these caps and where to get them?

You may be over filling you batteries. Do not fill them to the split ring but make certain the plates are covered. Wear safety glasses.

They are called the "Water Miser Safety Vent Caps" and I purchased some from the manufacturer online last month... so far so good. My batteries were not overfilled, but still charging them left corrosion on the trays, etc. I will report on them after a longer test period.

I had read about them on this forum and the information cited how the battery acid and water reconstitutes after charging as a result of the cap design.

Have the same problem, found one vent cap missing the inner liner, replaced it with new one but still have acid problems! Batteries are not overfilled. Will try the caps but we do not see any acid on top of the batteries?

I'm having the same problem with corrosion build up. I tried a good baking soda flooding followed by clear water in an effort to remove the corrosion without removing the batteries...did'nt work. Anyone have a success story WITHOUT removing the batteries?
