Bay Star 3226 counter space

We are thinking of a 3226, but one of the draw backs is the kitchen counter space. Frankly, it is minimal at best. Has anyone “added” some counter space even temporarily while cooking. Or, how have they addressed the issue?

With a dual sink, we leave one cover on and use one side of the sink. It’s not much, but every little bit helps. In our 3609 the drawer and cabinet door locations don’t really provide a spot to install a pop up counter extension.

Although we haven’t done it yet, we have talked about taking a TV tray with us and using that.

It’s a start. My wife says cooks need to be part of design.

Counter space is premium, even on the largest units. We leave covers on, do prep, then cook. We have also done pre-prep at home and keep things in fridge or freeze to use at the campsite.

We have a 4' folding table I will use in CG when I am cooking on grill or over fire..

the whole rig is a compromise, you just figure out what works for you.

cheers,
j

My Bay Star had little usable galley space. I decided to discard the Newmar installed top and replace it with a corian stone looking top with a large single sink, better faucet and a smaller 2 burner cooktop. The cabinet needed reinforcement with 1x2s and 1x3s to well support the corian counter top. I also added a 15" x 30" flip up extension and a 2' x 2' table top on a post between the front seats.

I now have room for a toaster oven on the counter top or even kneed bread dough. The extension makes it easy to set meals on it and someone outside can move the dishes to the picnic table. The driver and passenger front seats are more comfortable than the dinette chairs and the location provides a better view while having inside meals.
