Bay Star Full Wall Slide How to Raise?

2022 BS 3014 with the dual motor full wall slide out that sits too low in the center when retracted. It is almost rubbing in two spots. Does anyone know the procedure to raise up the slide maybe 1/8 of an inch?

It also does not look like it is centered, see pictures.

Ours is low in that same spot. Someone posted procedures for raising but I can’t remember who. It’s something I’ll have our dealer do. DeMartini in Grass Valley CA has some skills.

Rob321,

Having made these adjustments many times, respectfully, this is not a do-it-yourself project. When one adjustment is made, often it will affect other clearances and I strongly recommend this be done at your selling dealer or one of our NIRVC locations. If you're still in warranty, usually Newmar will authorize the adjustments if out of tolerances

Just curious, those clearances are down where you see them all the time. Have you looked at the top of the slide to see if there is a corresponding wide clearance there, or does the top not fit into the side of the wall like it does at the bottom?

This is the thread containing a discussion of how I adjusted the FWS so that it had sufficient clearance to extend/retract without damage. I would have had the dealer do the adjustment but they were 7 hours away and I had just returned from delivery of said coach. Also, just sitting in my driveway, the clearance was so tight that it was starting to separate some of the diagonal trip pieces when I attempted to retract the slide. I couldn't get my slide back in without performing an adjustment.

I am in no way disagreeing with Kevin (NIRVC) here, as you will see in my explanation of how to level the FWS. If at all possible, have a trusted dealer handle this issue. It is easy to make things worse.

I took my coach to the dealer for slide adjustment. It was making contact with the forward lower corner, and a tight reveal looking up. The dealer charged $600 to do the adjustment, and all they did was adjust the stops, so that the affected corner remained out slightly, which means the slide is not all the way in. They also said there was no for/aft adjustment for the slide. I asked Newmar, they sent me the steps to follow, and I am heading back to the dealer next week to have it done correctly. I coult not upload the doc from Newmar, but if you call them they will forward to you .

Sorry to hear that. Not all dealers are have the same expertise, and yours may not have the knowledge or experience to get this done right. You might want to see how far away you are from an NIRVC.

Thanks blh427. I checked out at your post with instructions and photos and that is exactly what I was looking for. My only question is did you have to make adjustments at all four rails or only the two middle ones? This is a great explanation.

To be honest your Best bet is go back to the factory . Let them check it out ! All they do is work on Newmar only ! The service is the best you can get. Give them a call and set up a appointment Andrew Newmar Owner since 2005 !!!

I ended up tweaking all 4 rails, just a little at a time. I also rechecked my clearances by extending/retracting the slide a couple of times after making an adjustment. Make sure to give some cool-down time for the motors in in between retract/extract cycles as you don't want them to overheat.

I was initially worried that this clearance problem would re-occur after driving the coach but after over 4,000 miles and several trips, my adjustments seem to be holding well.

This particular issue seems to be common on 3014 FWS as I have spoken to 3 others on the forum who have had this identical problem. Still, the level of precision here is pretty good. The slide is say, 25' long or so, and it sags perhaps 3/16" or so over this span. That kind of precision in an RV slide is pretty impressive.

One other piece of advice should you choose to proceed. Don't raise the slide more than necessary or you may run into clearance issues between the top edge of the slide and the opening in the coach.

Going from Calif. to the Newmar factory is not feasible for me. Also my selling dealer is hours away and from other stories I have heard, when dropping off to a dealer it could be weeks if not months to get warranty work done. I have several trips planned in the near future. I am going to try the adjustment myself.

As an interesting note, I park my BS inside an aircraft hangar with a perfectly flat floor. When sitting on the tires only, the revel gap is almost rubbing. The coach sits low in front and low on the left side But when I level the coach with jacks, the revel gap is bigger and the slide works better. Just opposite of the Newmar recommends for deploying the slides.

I live in Utah so a trip to the factory is a bit much. My dealer is NIRVC in Las Vegas and even that is 7 hours away. NIRVC is located in AZ and Las Vegas, NV, so perhaps you could make a trip to one of them. I suggest NIRVC because, at least for me, they are pretty timely with warranty repairs. They service all comers. Previously, I dropped my coach off for about 10 days or so, and though it took about 7 business days for warranty authorization to arrive from Newmar, they worked fast and finished most of what I needed in the 2 days that were available after they received warranty authorization from Newmar. Not sure why it took so long to get warranty authorization though, Newmar supposedly promises 4 hours on the back of their brochure. Hmmm...

When dealing with your slide system, it is important to deal with someone who knows how to work on Newmar's slide system. As far as I can tell, the slide system on my 2023 3014 is unique to Newmar and the average RV tech is not going to have the proper training to do this job correctly. This is not a Lippert or Shwintec slide mechanism.
