BayStar Ceiling Bunkbed

We just purchased a new 2022 with the ceiling Bunk. We didn’t want it but it came with it! During the PDI the passenger side latch of the bunk would not easily latch. 3 hard pushes on the passenger side by tech and it finally latches. Technician says that happens all the time….seems like it needs to be adjusted? I see in 2023 models they changed the design, wonder why? Is this a common problem?

MSO,
Yes, this is an issue. There is another thread out there which indicates the bunk may come down during travel. I believe one or two people in that same thread posted some fixes for it.

The belts should fasten easy as they are the safety device. Reach out directly to your Newmar rep on the d/s window and they can assist you with this. You can also schedule a warranty repair with your selling dealer or any NIRVC as we are Newmar certified repair facilities.

Yes, we have experienced this with our bunk. Drivers latch was replace due to dropping on rough highways and then the passenger latch started dropping. Have never had both latches drop at the same time. We are using stiff foam between the ceiling and the bed on the passenger side only as a band aid. The foam is to minimize the slightest bounce of the bed to reduce the latch dropping the bed substantially. we suspect bed bounce on rough roads is causing the latch to release. This is on our list for Nappanee repairs in April. Another user is using steel cable ties to keep the bed from dropping.
