Bedroom Slide Takes a Minute to Wake Up!

Lately when I push the switch to open the Bedroom Slide, it takes a minute or so before the slide starts moving. Push the switch, light on the switch comes on. After a few seconds the light goes out & the slide does not start. Go through this procedure 3-4 times then all of a sudden, way it goes. Has not acted up when retracting the slide. Think it may be a sticky relay but have not had a chance to check. Anyone had this problem? Where are the slide relays located?

I don't have a newmar, but my hwh slides act up in a similar manner occasionally and I have deduced that if the chassis batteries aren't close to 100% weird things happen. Some thing to check ..

On ours the main slide has a 5 second delay, there is also a womans voice telling you about the delay and to make sure everything is out of the way. Some years ago the voice quit so I replaced the controller.

Still have the nice lady with the warning but it only comes on for the driver side slide. The one in the bedroom and passenger side have always started almost immediately until the last couple of times when the bedroom slide does not want to go without having to push the switch a few times after it appears to Time Out.

Dennis, first I would start to check the wiring from your main 12v fuse panel for a loose battery or ground wire even remove and reset fuse.
The plug on control unit could be reset or even sprayed with contact spray lastly remove switch and clean that. You may have some oxidation on something.
You can do this in what ever order you wish.
You may want to take a look under bed and see if everything is normal and not this problem if you have this set up.

Thanks for the information. I am pretty sure it is a poor contact somewhere. I tried the easy one by removing the fuse but no luck. As soon as we get settled in our new home, I will get into it a little more serious. Hopefully it will continue to function till then....

Mr D the women's voice just quit on our main slide too. Should I be concerned it is still working fine otherwise.

The woman's voice is controlled from the controller you may want to take off plugs to controller and spray the plugs with contact cleaner spray or just remove plug and reset on the controller that in itself may clean the contacts.

A slide controller can be located in your kitchen cabinet for main LR SLIDE or a hutch cabinet, the bedroom slide could be in a linen cabinet and on some DP's they maybe located on the chassis frame rails or basement compartments.
If on frame rail could be exposed to moisture if covers are not tight on housing container.
