Best Indoor storage practices
Hey All,
Just got a call from an indoor storage place to store the coach at. It does have power (says on their site) so i wanted to ask, what is the best practices when storing a coach with power...leave inverter on? what else to do... I plan on storing it Sunday evenings thru Thursday, bring it home Fridays to use or do stuff on it thru weekends...
thanks in advance...Fred

Propane OFF at the tank.
If inverter/charger is properly programmed for your batteries, you can leave it plugged in 24/7.
But, turn OFF the inverter. If power lost, you don't want the batteries discharged which they will even do with no load (inverter on standby takes power).
Add a BIOCIDE such as Biobar JF if you will not be burning that tank of diesel within 3 months. And be sure to completely fill the diesel tank to minimize condensation.
Michelin recommends inflating tires to sidewall PSI for storage. Not sure it is worth a big fire drill, but make sure they are not below PSI for your actual weight.
If on 15 amp service, make sure the "power share/power save" option on your inverter/charger is to its lowest setting. This limits how many amps of 120 VAC may be used for battery charging. Even 5 amps is plenty to keep the batteries properly charged.
If in a humid area, consider a small (30 pint) house-type dehumidifier. Set on the kitchen counter or in the shower draining into the gray tank. Set humidity to 50%. It will remove a lot of water at first, but once removed, will not run very much.

Another thing (I used to have a 40' Monaco coach) is that if your house batteries are lead acid (flooded), you will need to check and possibly refill the water in them (distilled) once per month. Mine was easy with the EZ Fill. And if you have a system on your coach to keep the chassis batteries charged (mine did) you will need to watch those too.

drive in, turn off motor, plug it in and go. Shutoff propane if you have it.

The answer to this question really depends on a number of factors, climate, how often you will use the coach, how often you will check on the coach, etc.
