Best Microwave/Convection Ovens

Hi all;
My microwave has developed a leak and actually melted part of the plastic bezel around the door.

I want to replace it with a convection/microwave and am looking for feedback on which one's are the best...in your opinion. Or which ones to avoid.

Thanks

Our Whirlpool failed after 2 years. We bought the GE Advantium and are very happy with it. The convection oven did not work well in the Whirlpool. We use it often in the Advantium. The GE is somewhere around $1100 and the Whirlpool is in the $300 - $400 range if I remember correctly.

We have the high pointe convection mw. We use both the convection and mw modes all the time. Even though this thing is only $200-$300, it's worked well for 2 1/2 years. We'll see if it lasts.

Well, 2 1/2 years is a pretty good track record for one that inexpensive. I will certainly be looking at it! Thanks!

Avoid Electrolux. The convection on mine is appalling. Everything else works good. The convection side won't hold temp. A 12-minute cookie batch takes 20 minutes. A 55 minute frozen pie NEVER cooks. 2.5 hours and the crust is still soggy. I hate it.

My sister found a tabletop convection oven. It's about the same size as the overhead one I've got. Hers works better than mine.

Hi flyfishidaho,
We did the GE micro/convection thing with the Café model. Regardless of the model, GE seems to be the best brand to buy.

Ditto.......

Heck - our OEM Whirlpool could not boil water in the micro wave....sad. Newmar said it was within specs......LOL Not sure whose, ours or their accountants....

Love our GE Advantium - - - works as designed - imagine that!

Seems that GE is getting top marks. I'll be looking at it closely. This is actually part of a bigger project to remodel the kitchen. Looking to get rid of the oven and go to a cooktop and dishwasher where the oven is so having a good convection oven is going to be important.

thanks for the feedback!

My coach came with a Whirlpool microwave and convection combo. It works great, I have had no problems with it except the fan button and light button will not shut off. They turn on but won’t shut off, so I just don’t use them.

Our 2005 Diplomat came with a Sharp Carousel microwave/convection. It worked great. When we had issues with the Whirlpool in our 2014 Dutch Star, I tossed it and replaced it with the Sharp Carousel.

I know everyone likes the GE Advantium, but they're very pricey, around $1100.00. The Sharp is about $500.00.

Whatever you decide on make sure you have the proper venting for it. We went with the High Point for the front venting.
