We have been very happy with the Thule Jeep spare tire bike rack. It is solid, the arm folds up when not in use, there is a locking cable on it, and it holds the bikes well. You can still open the back door, just don't slam it too hard when you close it. You will see a lot of Jeep people with this rack. We often take the bikes with the jeep and leave the MH at the campground.

We use a Thule Vertec two bike rack off and extender where we attach Blue Ox Towing gear. That rack tips away and will not touch the hood of the car. This features allows for engine checks prior to travel. We use a portable rack on the back of our Grand Cherokee.
It’s awesome to lock and store them when camping. We have not noticed any damage due to heat. One of the bikes is a full carbon.
Anyway, it works great!

All the best,

Jeff and Lynn

All - We have been hauling our bikes on the receiver hitch on Jeep since 11 or 12, the first rack just was not heavy enough. We got a Yakima one for 2 bikes. Yeah, pain, but load the wrangler first, then the bike rack then bikes. With some of the expansion joints we have hit, and almost leaving the ground, the Yakima has stood the test of time. One wheel holder broke last fall, had to by new part, but it's never caused issues, love that Yakima.

Might want to check this bike rack out on amazon.. https://www.amazon.com/Yakima-HoldUp...A20CDZ83O9NXHE
have no idea what an "e-bike" is or whether or not this might help but saw someone on youtube who had nice things to say about it

Spent far too much time trying to find a bike rack appropriate to my dual suspension bike that wouldn't require adding a receiver to my car and finally settled on a Curt Clamp-on Hitch bike rack. It clamps onto my Blue Ox hitch behind my rear radiator diesel.

My bike isn't 50 lbs like the typical eBike, but the Curt is rated at 135 lbs capacity. It's easy to remove, has appropriate security (you can lock it in place so it can't be stolen plus there's plenty of ways to add locking cables for the bike), and after using it for nearly 2 years I haven't found anything about it to complain about. Still working well. Holds onto the hitch tube just as strong now as when I installed it.

I've found that the rubber straps it comes with it that hold the bike in rubber cradles and the bike itself are all doing fine even though they are subject to the hot air from the engine. Nothing seems to be aging out too rapidly due to that heat. Not even the straps that hold the Curt to the RV frame.

I wrote an article about it with an Amazon link to the bike rake. No advertising at this link, and the Curt company didn't ask me to write the evaluation, it's my personal review: Curt Bike Rack...

I have a Yakima spare tire rake for my Jeep to carry our mountain bikes. I would like to find a hitch mount rake for our DSDP that would swing out of the way of the engine compartment. Any recommendations?

The Kuat NV and Sherpa pivot down and allow me to open my engine compartment fully. Also, Kuat makes a swing-a-way add on for their racks.

ve used this one for a few years and like the way that it folds up when not in use and is very stable and secure. It also allows the use of bike covers because it does not use hooks to hold the top bars of the bikes.

It fits a receiver and comes with an adapter to fit larger receivers. You could use it for the toad reliever. You would need either a dual receiver adapter or a second, smaller receiver next to the main one.

Have you considered just carrying the bikes inside the pass through compartment? We ride a tandem & what drew us to purchasing a DP was to carry our bike inside. We could also fit two single bikes by loading one from each side. Only takes a few minutes to put the wheels back on and keeps it clean and safe. I do admit not having any experience to what it takes to remove wheels from an e-bike.

Agreed!

Grab the RakAttach with your 1UP USA rack and you will be able to access the back of your Jeep via an easy pin pull. The swing out changes everything!

E-Bike rack

I too have 2 E-bikes and you already know what a couple of E-bikes cost.
Our e-bikes design make a platform rack the best choice because of the frame and battery locations. and at 60# each I wasn't about to trust them to a ordinary rack.
Expensive but top notch. 1UP USA

Do you use a dual receiver type of accessory if so how high of a rise?
