Bike Rack Clearance

Are most racks set up to clear a rear spare tire on the back of the RV?

Thanks.

Bike Rack experience

I have a Swagman rack that I use for Ebikes. It has adjustable holders for the fat tires and folds down for access to rear compartment. It is very secure as it has a locking bolt that tightly secures in the receiver. It also has locking braces that firmly hold the bikes.

Just one more reason to have a side radiator.

They have the same cover on Amazon. Just ordered it. $69 + $18 shipping. (Not a Prime item)

Mine is with a 56lb. eBike. I use the KUAT with a double receiver hitch on the back of my Canyon Star.

Not sure what the other guy bought on amazon for 70.00 but I don’t think it was the same cover.

Exhaust tip

Having read a reply concerning the exhaust melting the rubber bumper cover on a toad, I lossened the two bolts on out exhaust pipe tip and turned it out 45* and re-tightened. This redirects the soot and heat out away from everything.

Bike rack experience

I have 4 door Jeep wrangler that I tow behind my Phaeton m/h. I have a Yakima bike rack that attaches to my spare tire on the Jeep. It works great and allows full access to open and close the rear gate.

Boy, is this post ever appropriate. We’re buying a Newmar Bay Star Sport 3014 on Wednesday and already bought a bike rack that fits vertically on the rear ladder.
One of the (very) few sad things about trading our Thor ACE 29.2 is that we’re losing it’s HUGE (practically walk-through) rear compartment where we kept our full sized bikes in a homemade rack. Thor has modified the newer models so that bay is compromised and no other manufacturer makes one either.

Anyone have suggestions for a vertical cover for 2 bikes?

It is a mistake to allow any mechanical object to realize that you are in a hurry.

We tow a Miata so bikes needed to be on RV rack. Some notes on our search
1. Not all bike racks are warranted for RVs. Most mfg. have RV specific models. Our is a very strong and (heavy) rack made by Yakima.
2. We use a double hitch extension made by Malone. Has two pin holes on top receiver which allows clearance for lower hitch.

We were worried that the setup might extend too far out but have towed it more than 2,000 with several stops, connect / disconnects etc. The light and short Miata helps.

We did the same thing. We had a custom receiver welded for us to put in the front of the motor home. It can be removed if we need to access the generator for maintenance. It works great. We can use it when we pull a car without a receiver hitch. We can also keep the bike rack on the RV while we are in camp and lock the bikes to the rack.
