Black Tank Cleaner Not Working
We are getting to leave Florida after sitting in the same site for four months and our getting things ready to go. I hooked up a hose to the black tank cleaner and heard no water running at all. Usually from the outside you can hear the sprinkler inside the tank spraying water. We went inside and looked down the toilet and nothing. Does anyone know if and where the check valve might be on the water line going from the hose connection to the tank. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

The check valve might be right at the nozzle going into the tank or at the connection point in your wet bay. For right now you could aim the hose down the toilet and flush the tank that way.

I am not positive but I don't think the black tank rinse is too exotic. Are you sure you have water supply to the connection in the wet bay and the valve switched to rinse?

If he's been sitting for 4 months, as he said, perhaps the tank got full enough to float paper up to cover the spray nozzle. I'd fill the tank through the toilet until full, put a little detergent in to 'wet' the water, then try the sprayer. NOT FOR LONG, since the tank will be full! You're just hoping that being immersed, the nozzle will clear itself.
If nothing else, dumping the tank when full will cause faster dump that might help emptying the tank better.

Black tank flush systems come in basically two flavors.
ONE is nothing more than a sprinkler head.. NO check valves,, there is a Vacuum Breaker above the tank often in the bathroom.. Mine is hidden outside behind a panel.
The other (The TOrnado) has a check valve in the head.
The third is what happens when you replace the 1st with the Second (I did, left vacuum breaker in place)
I also have both vacuum breaker and check valve on the hose that feeds it.
Neither works all that well.
You might as well stand on the flush pedal while holding a garden hose.

Hi Jack, if the new one are anything like mine(2000) there is a hose connection w/rubber plug on the panel in the water bay, remove hose end cap, tighten hose end onto it, turn on water, I can hear mine spraying........I believe it is a spray bar in the top of the tank........no check valves on mine, straight in. I suggest hooking it up, get a clear hose connection for on the dump outlet, so you can see what is going on, open/dump the black tank.........see if there is water running after the tank goes empty. Maybe fill and dump a couple of times........Have you partner watch down through the toilet, and tell you when to pull the dump handle............if anything is on it, I can't see it plugging the entire spray bar off??? In the photo, you can see the "Supply Water" valve hooked to the spray bar for the black tank.
