Black tank sensors

I have a 2019 Ventana 4369.

There has been a lot of discussions on this and other forums about how unreliable the tank sensors are. I believe that on my coach, the sensors are on the outside of the tank.

Does anyone know what principle is used to determine the level inside the tank? . . . How do the sensors work? . . .

Thank you

Manny

As it was explained to,me by KIB, the sensors on the exterior sides of the tanks emit rf frequency through the side of the tanks. You can see what they are doing if you,get into the set up mode of,the tank monitors.

Newmar techs will tell you how problematic they are. For 2021 they have gone to pressure switches that are more accurate. This system was used in King Aire in the past and has fewer reported issues

I was at Newmar in Nappannee a couple of weeks ago and they worked on the sensors. They upgraded the software and re-calibrated the sensors.

The modifications worked fine while I was at Newmar, but after I left and started filling the tanks at a campground, a specific problem came up.

Every time the black tank reaches 50%, the display immediately jumps to 100%, the red light comes on at the flush panel and I can no longer flush the toilet. Once I dump, the display eventually shows 0% and everything returns to normal.

I tried filling the black tank 4 times up to the 50% mark, and each time it jumped to 100%

My Newmar customer service rep told me that the sensors work on pressure, but looking at the sensors, I don't see how. Ultrasound or RF makes more sense.

Newmar is sending a mobile tech to take a look. Hopefully he can fix it.
