So I went to Central Coast Truck Center in San Luis Obispo (Freightliner Shop - they were awesome) to have my Viper module replaced to fix the blank dashboard issue MANY New Aire (and other digital dash Newmar owners) have been experiencing. All is good now, but I wanted to make all of you aware of the shoddy install job NEWMAR did when they installed the module originally.
The module - as you can see in the photos - has four rubber shock mounts where it is supposed to be screwed to the chassis. This must have been too much effort for Newmar as the factory instead decided to drive two self-tapping screws right through the module plastic and into the chassis.
Usually electronics with a shock mount has such a mounting solution because many electronics are susceptible to failure with certain vibration frequencies. Not saying that this was the cause of the failure, but regardless it is not quality craftsmanship or attention to detail in any way.
Central Coast Truck Center did what a quality shop would do - not just mount it back the way it was - but instead fix it the proper way. Kudos to them!
