Blown security light

First trip out as a family and it's been a bit of a comedy starting with excessive slope and ending up with a security light that burned out after fifteen minutes of use. For some reason I thought that one was led as the others.

Does anyone know what type bulb it takes and how to get the lense cover off to change the bulb?

John

You can replace it with a LED equivalent. I haven't taken the cover off on mine, but it did feel like it snapped off with a gentle squeeze.

If it is the oval light, Yes just squeeze the lens top to bottom.

info on LED light for that and where's the button?

There was a good thread about that a while back: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/exte...ht-276165.html

I still haven't figured out how to turn those lights on! I see the buttons for the dock lights and patio light but not for the security lights. I have a 2015 Dutch Star.

Thanks

The scare light switches for a 2015 DS is in your main control panel in the overhead cabinet near the switches to open and close your slides.

If I'm not mistaken, up through 2015 Newmar used 1141 or 1156 in the security light. Identical base, but the 1156 is higher wattage and about 50% brighter. An LED conversion is available.

Our '02 DSDP had the round lights, they used a 1295 bulb which I found at NAPA, but they wanted $5.95 per bulb. Found them on the internet for less than half that but I had to order a dozen of them.
But, ultimately I replaced all of them (we had four of the lights as a special order) with LED panel lights that had 48 LED's on them and boy were those bright!

I replaced mine with what they call COG LED's. They are 1" x 1" square LED plates. They come with two plug in connectors that allow you to use it with a couple of bases. One of the plugs has the 1156 base. I doubled them up and installed two of the large LED's in each light. You can also buy the LED plates that have 24 -36 individual LED's and two sided tape on the back. Just remove the cover and tape them to the back wall of the light.
