Blown turbo

Guy next to me at Betty’s RV Park in Abbeville LA blew his turbo in a MTn Aire as he came in a couple of days ago. Mobile mechanic worked on it all day Friday. They got it out and airfreighted it to somewhere in MO. to be rebuilt. He’s supposed to get it back Tuesday otherwise he said it would be a three month wait for a new one.
He’s French Canadian trying to get home from Mexico. My redneck and his French didn’t help our communication but he did speak more English than I do French
Bottom line none of us better blow a turbo this week.

Not that we have much choice in these matters. Would be interesting to know the cause. Loss of lubrication, defective air filter?

I don’t know, his mechanic handled that, he didn’t seem to know either.
If I see him today I’ll ask again.

3 month wait for a new turbo ?

I find that hard to believe.
What year and make of engine.
Google diesel turbos.
Bully has aftermarket turbos for most all engines.
Salvage yards have them.
Truck parts stores have them.
Ebay has them.
New and rebuilt.

Case ih tractors run Cummins engines.
Many dealers have several in stock.
Our dealer has two last I checked when I replaced my exhaust manifold Identical to the one on my 1998
Manufactured ISM

Ask his mechanic when he is back
If you think of it.

Too late now to let guy know, you need to warm them up and cool them down. Owners manual on my ISL says as long as 5 minutes on the cool down, which usually works out to paying for spot in office and then moving to spot in park, backing/pulling forward to be centered, etc., since I only idle in. You can also overrev the engine going down hills if you don't keep RPM's under around 2300, suggest you all read engine manual.
