Blue Ox Tow question
I’m going to add a tow car, a 2021 Ram 1500 Longhorn Limited. I have been towing, and will still occasionally tow a jeep wrangler.
Question is, should I upgrade from blue ox 7500 on tow bar to the 10k? I’ll be towing th Ram plus a Golf cart in the bed I estimate Ram to be 5400, and golf cart 1000 LB’s. So that’s getting close to 7500lbs, especially considering I’ll certainly throw a few more things in the truck - guessing I’d be around 7k to 7200 range. Is it OK to be that close, or would you recommend spending the money to upgrade to the 10k?

Just do it and be done with that thought. I did.

I did exactly that. Had the 7500 bar when we were towing an equinox. I went up to a Sierra 1500 Denali that was 5,600 curb weight. Added a golf cart in the bed with ramps and got it weighed - right at the 7,200 lb GVWR. Upgraded to the 10k Blue Ox and sold the other one to a friend.
Trust your gut. If you are thinking about it now and you don't do it you will be thinking about it on every trip, every hard stop or hill climb.

Would do the upgrade.
I went ahead and purchased the 10k when we got our Blue Ox to prepare for possible future towing opportunities (namely pulling our truck).

I'm with the others. I can't think of a reason not to.

One other thought. Along with the 10k bar you also get much heavier safety cables with bigger hooks.

We don't have a cart in the back, but I upgraded to a 10k bar (Demco) when we started towing a 1500 Silverado 4x4 crew cab. I looked at 7500# but decided to go with more capacity to be sure.
You won't regret it.

I have the Blue Ox Avail 10,000 lb tow bar and tow a Chevy Equinox with <3 500 lb curb weight. As an engineer, I advocate for a large safety margin.
