Brake controller wires - again

Another brake controller thread, I know.

I have a 2003 Dutch Star on a Freightliner XC that I’m wanting to install a brake controller. I’ve read many threads and most are different.

Here’s what I got. Above the steering wheel I removed the fuse access panel. Found 3 cut wires taped together (blue, orange and black) labeled trailer brake spares.

I’ve checked the orange and black for power and nothing (including pressing brake while engine running for input signal). Assuming black was hot - believe it or not, and assuming orange was brake trigger.

Newman was closed. Freightliner initially told me there is a fuse that needs to be in place and directed me to the chassis box. No place for a fuse. No prongs.

Called Freightliner back and they said, no fuse. There should be a 6 pin harness down by column. I’ve checked up and down and it’s not there. (Red/white, red/white,red, brown, black) according to freightliner.

Any other ideas? And why would I have the 3 spare brake wires just lying up by the inside fuse panel?

Looking for help.

Sorry for the long post. And yes, I’ve read every post on here.

2003 DSDP XC.

I have a 2001 DSDP FL XC
I installed a Prodigy P2 controller
One wire to power with fuse(Black)
One wire to ground(White)
One wire to back trailer plug from stop light switch unit under floor at air valve box (Red)
Wire from Trailer connection at rear of coach to controller (Blue)
I had help in tracing wires to find where they were run.

I traced wires from trailer plug to area behind dash to find unused. Our coach being 18 years old with two previous unknown owners before us-there is no telling what has been done.
