Drove our '07 DSDP 4307 north to Michigan for Thanksgiving. Left the Friday after in 6" of snow, ice, and some slush. Coach was very dirty, so I did the clean up on last Saturday. When cleaning the rear wheels, I found a greasy or sticky deposit around the inside circumferance of the wheel that had held sand and grit in place. I used bug and tar remover to loosen it up and then washed it off.

Any idea what it might have been? Haven't noticed it in our two previous trips. Brake dust perhaps? It was on both the drive and tag axle wheels.

Could have been just road grime from trip I would just keep a watch on next trip for a leaky seal in rear end if you find more oil in that area.

Bob, Pull the chrome hub domes and check the axle hubs, also take a look at the inside of the wheel/tire for any oil. The chrome hubs come off easily, just grab, wobble and pull.

Thanks, guys. I'll take a look when I go back up to the storage yard this weekend. Seemed unlikely to be a leak since I found it on all four outside wheels. Maybe just road grime.

I agree Bob, all 4 does not lend itself to a leak. Still, put your mind to rest and check out the hubs. I check mine a couple of times a year including the front. But, I always watch for signs of leals inside and on the outside of the wheels/tires. Good luck.
