Braking system

We have a Dutch Star with a freight liner chassis on order. We want to buy a tow bar and braking system. Does anyone know if the toad will run off of an air or electrical system on the coach?

We have had Newmar coaches for 23 years and have towed close 300K miles and the Air Force One is the best braking system by far. Need to be cautious about electric braking system because Newmar coaches have their brake lights come on when using the Jake Brake is on which if your braking system uses your brake lights to turn on your toad brakes you will have problems in the mountains with burning up your tow brakes. Road Master has excellent tow bars and other items needed to attach your tow to your DS.

Air Force 1 is the best.

I've used nothing but Roadmaster equip on both my previous Dutch Stars. Now have the Nighthawk towbar and Brakemaster 9160 with breakaway. All works great on my '09 Magna towing my Wrangler.

You might want to look at the Ready Brute Elite manufactured by NSA. It's a mechanical system and has worked very well for us. - Paul

I had the Air Force 1 on my Dutch Star and I now am a repeat customer with it on my London Aire. By far the best braking system.

I think the others missed your question. The Spartan chassis comes with an airline installed to the rear bumper, so you can connect an air operated braking system like the M&G or Air Force One, proportional braking systems. I thought that they were offering the air line on the Freightliner now, but after looking at the brochure, I don't see it discussed, but it also doesn't discuss the Spartan air line either. You should probably contact your dealer.

Both coaches will come with wiring from the dash to the trailer hitch for an electric braking system.

Freightliner now has Brakesync on their 2021 chassis. It is the similar to what Spartan has. I think it is on all the 2021s, but double check by going to the FL web site and looking up the chassis spec sheet for your coach.

You will not find any information about this on the Newmar website or their brochures, and when I picked up my coach a month ago, the folks at Newmar didn't seem to know anything about it. https://www.fcccrv.com/BRAKESYNC/

Check out the M&G brake system for your vehicles. They have a tremendous system which we have used for years. They now have air and electric driven brake systems designed for toads. A small company with a great product.

2X - Another advantage is it's a lower cost setup.
