Do you mean waterless trap? Those can be damaged by a snake. Google HEPVO, they are a self closing membrane, used when there isnt enough room for a trap.

Yup, that's it! Thanks for the pointer.

I still have no idea how it could be removed from the shower but at least I know what it is now. The only access under the shower is through a circular "door" but that's right next to the toilet. I'll just hope I don't need to.

Bar soap is horrible stuff and I stopped using it decades ago. Try using dish soap and shampoo as a replacement as it is much better for your skin and plumbing.

It's designed to be reached thru the access. Mine looks hard to reach also. Have you looked in to see if it is a hepvo?

I have poured a cup of dawn down and let it soak 24 hrs. I have also used a large flat tyrap and slid it thru to help it from sticking.

If shower clog is like most shower clogs, it is a hairball that needs to be grabbed/ extracted. :-(

The motorhome was at the dealer the past week for various warranty issues, one of which was a water leak from underneath the shower. Yes, it has a HEPVO and yes, they found the leak...

They had to remove the toilet to get to it because the access hole was next to the toilet. Then they had to remove a heater duct just forward of the access hole so they could get two arms under there. Then they had to reach in about two feet.
