Broken Headlight bulb

I was working on the RV today and noticed pieces of glass in the drivers side headlight enclosure. Some how, the headlight bulb broke. I don't remember hitting any major bumps, unless the bulb was just weak from the beginning. Either way, I have never seen that happen before. Kinda bizarre. And not looking forward to pulling off the enclosure to clean it out. :-/

Anyway, as everyone knows, the stock bulbs are terrible and this is a good opportunity to replace both of them. I search and found threads by NealC and RedBaron73 discussing replacements. Some of these were dated (2017 and 2018) so I was wondering what you guys think of the lights you bought and maybe whether you had moved up from what was mentioned in those threads.

Of course, if anyone has any thoughts, let me know too. We do very little night driving, but like to have good lights when you have to.

These were mentioned:
Sylvania

As well as these:
Beam Tech

Thoughts?

Just be sure that whatever you go with is DOT compliant. If not, you could face liability issues if the non-compliant lights are a factor in an accident.

I went with Sylvanias. They aren't perfect, but they are DOT compliant and are a big improvement over the OEM lamps.

In my personal experience they have never lived up to their hype. I believe they are just overpriced.

The Standard Sylvania are OK though.

No, didn’t fit properly. Much happier with the beamtech’s and better lighting.

Are the Beamtechs DOT-compliant? I don't see any mention of that in its Amazon offering.

Quite frankly/bluntly, don't care. I want most "compliant" visibility for my safety.

Don't mean to hit a tender spot, Neal, but what about the safety of oncoming drivers? I know that a lot depends on proper aiming and, I'm sure with your attention to detail, your lights are properly aimed. That said, some non-compliant headlights scatter light in such a way as to create visibility issues for oncoming drivers even when properly aimed. I don't know if that applies to Beamtech lamps or not, but that's part of DOT certification testing.

Should an accident occur and a driver claim he was blinded by overly-bright headlights, owners of "expensive motorhomes" are frequently seen as having deep pockets by intrepid lawyers. That's at the root of my concern about DOT compliance.
