Broken window escape door - rock?

This was a new experience. I’ve never lost a side window on an rv or car. When I stopped to fuel this AM after leaving a campground I discovered our window in the escape door shattered. It appeared a rock or maybe a pellet gun? I left in the dark this morning and didn’t noticed it until we stopped. Just wondering if anyone else has ever lost a side window to a rock.

Rock kicked up by another vehicle, pellet, BB, weed whacker throwing a rock (happened to our Lincoln) stress crack,,, all of these things can happen. You're just lucky enough to have it happen to you (OK, unlucky)

It is quite possible that nothing hit it and it just spontaneously shattered. This is not common, but not that unusual in automotive glass, which is usually tempered. It is normally due to an undetected flaw in the glass that, due to extreme temperature or even hitting a bump can cause the flaw to lead to shattering. The fact that you have a very new coach that hasn't had a lot of exposure to environmental effects is consistent with this -- it usually manifests itself pretty early in the vehicle's life.

If you go online and Google "spontaneous glass breakage" you can find a lot of info and videos about this, including reports of auto hatches shattering when being closed and windshields spontaneously shattering.

Never had a side glass on MH break or crack, but it happened in my P/U truck. Side rear window was shattered by bushhog working on side of interstate. It was an ordeal to deal with state insurance claim. Drive to office, have states insurance adjuster take picture. They required me to get 3 prices at glass shops. I went to dealership, tint shop and car audio. My truck had window tint, custom sound system with dynamat. It was an ordeal and then I handed them a bill for my 10 hours of time loss from work. This was in 2005 so hopefully things will be better if dealing with insurance!

We had a side vent window shatter, I think I heard it happen. It must have been broken at the edge and cracked it. I read that tempered glass won't break (usually) from the front, but is more susceptible to break if hit on the edge.
Pretty sure a rock hit mine. I ordered a new vent window from Newmar and replaced it myself..Fairly easy to do. Good luck..
