Bug Remover Hot water hose reel project complete.

Last fall I took a trip and the bugs were pretty bad, so I was hooking up a hose to my hot water spigot under the front hood and washing the front of the coach, Hot water works wonders on bugs.

This gave me an Idea, I wanted to be able to reach under the front of the coach pull out the hot water hose then have it wind back up.

I searched long and hard paying close attention to size and weight and ended up with this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I added a couple fittings so it would both thread on to my spigot and accept a brass hose nozzle.

Settled on this one I like the idea it is rubber covered to eliminate possible damage https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Could not be happier with the results, it is mounted with 8 tech screw 6 on the main mounting flange to frame and 2 on on the roller arm that I added L brackets to.

Additonal info and parts

A few fittings I used along the way.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Mounting screws. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And 3 inches of 1 inch x 1/8 in flat stock cut in half and bent 90 degrees for support brackets shown.

Hope this helps complete the job for you.

Ted.

I thought of that years ago. A lot of work to install. Bucket of hot water, sponge and finger nails works for me.

I appreciate your comments thank you.

Actually Quite the opposite, took me about 2 hours total.

Most of that time I spent figuring out how I was going to predrill the holes and running in and out of my garage for tools.

So I made a cardboard pattern, from the holes I drilled in the mounting flange, then transferred it to the frame and Wala!

From that point it was a 10 minute install.

I can't see myself getting out a hose and bucket, a ladder and mix up a bucket of soapy water sponge etc at a fuel stop.

The Idea is a little work now, employs a lot of convenience for life.

While fueling I can reach under the front facia, pull out the hose rinse the bugs off and it rolls it self back up.

I also have a pole window squeegee mounted under the hood for convenience.

Ted.

Vickie 4369 ... I had done something similar, but you have taken it to the next level. Might look at upgrading mine as well now that I see yours.

Good job.

Ted, I really like this. Your brackets for your window squeegee appear to be attached with command strips. Can your cite your source for the brackets?

That is correct but I also ran a screw in the center of each one as an added security.

white scotchbrite really works to take off bugs and does not scratch.
