California King bed option
Does Newmar offer a true California King bed, 72”X84”, in any of the Dutch Star Coaches ?? I’m 6’7” and don’t fit in a regular king bed...

I don’t think so? In our DS 4369, with slides retracted, the foot of the bed is against the cabinets. Unless you order a custom bed 4-5 inches longer, and remove the bottom cabinets on the opposite wall?
Also, I’m 6’2” and driver seat is constrained at the back by the slide. Try seating in the driver seat with slides in. You may not like it sitting upright for hours?

Absolutely correct and as said, the bed hits the cabinets at the foot of the bed with the slides in. Maybe could be done with the tilting bed?

Bully’s points are all correct. All the floor plans currently limit the bed length by the width of the coach. Only solution would be to remove or reduce depth of cabinets at the foot of the bed so that it would fit with slides in.
Stuart’s tilting bed idea might work. I’ve see that in Tiffin coaches. Not sure if Newmar has that option.
The driver’s seat issue has been improved a bit on the 2018 and newer coaches. I think they did this by slightly shortening the FWS. Mine is too tight, but I’ve sat in newer units and they seem to have more space. Time to buy a new coach.

Thanks, Stuart.
But is that tilting bed longer than the standard 80?

As far as I know it is not longer, but maybe you could get longer as a special order. Would have to talk to a dealer and or Newmar

We have a California king in our 2017 Winnebago Adventurer. It has a tilt bed that you put up before bringing the slide in. Most all WBGO Class A coaches have the bed tilt. They don’t come with CalKing mattresses though. WBGO puts in a knock off brand Sleep Number that is a short king, but they put a spacer at the headboard as well. We took out the spacer, got rid of the bad knock off Sleep Number mattress and replaced it with a CalKing “Leesa” mattress.
Works great.

We have a King mattress that is actually 82" long. The platform is a few inches shorter. It just touches (with bedspread and blanket) the drawers when the slide is in.
If I wanted to do a Cal-King I'd pick up the end of the mattress and put the pillows under the end before bringing the slide in. It would easily fit into the space above the counter.
Alternatively, I'd pull the King away from the headboard a few inches and have a foam spacer made ... I never have my head all the way up against the headboard. Remove the spacer for travel.
BTW, I'm 6'3".

They actually sell a setup that comes with the spacer and a mattress cover that holds it in place.
