Can Oasis be used when coach is winterized?
I'm getting ready to winterize my coach and have a question; after I winterize the water system with pink anti-freeze, can I still use Oasis to heat the coach? I've done some searches and can't seem to find any information on this aspect of Oasis.
My concern is what happens to the anti-freeze when it gets repeatedly heated when Oasis runs?

I was at my CPU last week and asked thst question. My service tech told me the oasis does not need to be winterized, It already has 4-5 gals of antifreeze in it.

My concern is not with the Oasis system itself, but with the water/antifreeze in the coils where the heat transfer takes place to provide hot water.

TJ, I have an AquaHot, which is in theory the same thing. It is my opinion that being a self contained system in itself, I see no reason you couldn't run the system for heat. Of course being winterized there's no need to run water, so for heat alone I don't think it would be an issue.
If I'm wrong, I apologize in advance.
Bill.

To be clear, the fresh water HAS TO be winterized with RV antifreeze if the RV will not be heated in a sub freezing area. It cannot just be blown out with air.
The heat transfer coolant for the hydronic heating system within the Oasis does not need to be "winterized". It already has antifreeze in it.
If the Oasis is like my Hydrohot, then yes, you can use the hydronic heater when the fresh water side is winterized with RV antifreeze.

Jim......I just got off the phone with ITR (Oasis manufacturer) and asked your question. The answer was a simple straightforward "YES", run your Oasis if you want with RV antifreeze in the freshwater system. They also confirmed there is nothing to winterize on the Oasis system itself.

OK, as a follow up, Could you drain and blow out the water lines and still use the Oasis?

Simple answer is NO....even after you "blow out" the fresh water in the system there is still fresh water in the coils & low spots in the plumbing, so just "do the pink" for the whole system (including the ice maker in the fridge) and don't worry...

Mbrooking, yes you could still use the heat system. But like saddlesore said why take the chance on your water distribution system. The heating system, sealed boiler fluid, and your water distribution system, supplies fresh water to facets, are separate. Their only interface is at the .1 gallon heat exchanger for hot water. Of course if you are keeping your coach heated all winter, then why the concern with winterizing? Winterizing is for coaches that are not heated in freezing weather.

Thanks for the replies. I've just never experienced the Oasis type heat exchanger system and wondered if it needed the fresh water side to operate. I'm not sure what type of situation where you might need to winterize and still need heat, but I wanted to make sure that wouldn't damage anything. I'm hoping that I would never really need to winterize as I store the RV in an insulated garage. For my current RV, I only blow out the lines when I need to take it in for service in the middle of winter and I know it will be outside.

Thank you, Mike; that is above and beyond the call. I do appreciate it. Nice to know the answer was from the manufacturer. That was my next avenue; to call ITR, but you beat me to it. The folks on this forum are...as my grandkids say..."awesome."

We haven't been able to get our new RV garage built yet and, if we can't find one nearby to rent, the coach will have to spend the winter outdoors. We don't usually get seriously cold temperatures here in Northwest Washington state, but can experience an "Arctic blast" once-in-a-while. Even though the coach water system will be winterized, we prefer to keep the interior heated to about 50 degrees.
