Angry Canyon Star 2014 & 2015 Please read.

If you have or are buying a New 2014 & 2015 Canyon Star you need to be aware of this problem.
Open the basement door on either end of the long open compartment. This is a problem on driver and passenger sides. Look toward the long end of the compartment on the inside and you will see daylight at the bottom of the closed doors. This is a factory defect that i have been fighting since March of 2014 and confirmed with my dealer that the new coaches coming off the assembly line 2015's have this isssue built in to the new coaches. The factory has taken till October of 2014 to admit and provide a fix for this issue. It has not been confirmed the fix will correct the problem but at the very least the factory has admitted there is a problem and it is caused by bad engineering. If the builder built to the engineering specs then it is engineriing at fault. This issue will allow water, insects and other varmen to enter the basement and spoil your travels.
Please check your unit and get it to the dealer asap to get them to get Newmar to send the fix back to the dealer for repairs. You will be glad you checked and glad you get it fixed.

If you are unclear send me a message and we can talk on the phone to clear it up.

Is the problem also in the Newmar Canyon Star 3920 and 3921?

My dealer has received the gasket and info to make the fix. BUT, they will try it on a stock coach first, before my coach. I will post info as it becomes available.

My dealer has installed the fix on his in stock coach and it worked. He has ordered parts for my coach and will let me know whin he receives them. It has taken Newmar long enough to get this done and I will be glad when the fix is completed on my Canyaon Star.

We have a 2014 CS 3920 and don't have this problem. The compartments each are separately enclosed so that you can't see from one compartment into another. Perhaps other floor plans are different as we were only interested in the 3920.

I turned on the compartment lights and looked underneath at night but the only light came from the utility compartments where there are of course holes for the hoses etc.

Since there are two threads on this issue, I'm putting our experience in both threads.

cheers

Since the gaps are repaired i have no further issues with the basement doors. I have used a piece of memory foam around my sewer hose to stop the gap around the hose and the opening in the floor and it works great. Critters be aware I do not allow them into my coach. You will be Killed on site.
