Canyon Star Cargo Door Latches

On my 2016 Canyon Star, some of the cargo doors have a black plastic trim piece that covers the inside door working components of the cargo door latch mechanism and some of the doors do not. It would appear, at first glance, that all of the doors would use the same cover. Any idea if this is intentional (reason to not cover the mechanism on certain doors) or if they were simply "forgotten" by Newmar during production?

I have those covers on all my basement doors where you would store items. I do not have them on doors that access other areas, like my DEF tank and engine batteries. Maybe some logic there that escapes me.

I got back to this project today and took some pictures. I also noted which doors do not have the inner latch covers. They are the LP tank compartment, the battery compartment, wet bay and the generator compartment. With exception of the wet bay, they are all ones that are open to the elements, more or less

Somehow the photos loaded on their side?? The left one is without the cover, the picture on the right is one with the cover.

Huh.....my 2017 CS had the same issues on some basement doors.

I had it at Newmar for some warranty work, mentioned the missing latch covers and they installed them where needed......

UPDATE: I called Newmar Customer Service yesterday. Iasked them about this, and some other issues. The Customer Service Rep went out to the production line, while I was on the phone, and talked to them about the door latch covers and why some were not installed? Production said that the covers are only installed in bays where items are stored that could shift and possibly cause the door to open during travel. OK, at least there was some logic applied here.

I asked what a cover would cost for my wet bay since the outside shower is right next to the latch and could cause issues. He said he would send me one, no problem. The other 3 bays in question have nothing that could move around to cause an accidental opening of the door or get tangled up in the mechanism causing a problem in the future.

Great customer service and very willing to go right to the line to get questions answered. I was impressed.

I received the latch cover from Newmar on Friday. Wow, that was quick. Installed it yesterday. Wet bay is now like all of the other "cargo bays".
