Canyon Star front diesel

I was searching the forums for any 2021 canyon star, front engine diesel owners, for some research for our next RV. Really canít find anything. I would like to hear from anyone out there who can give me some insight on how they like the new design and performance? (Or point me to a thread), Is it under powered? Is handling an issue?

2021 Canyon Star 3927

I have a Canyon Star 3927, with the toy hauler and love it. Very happy with how well equipped it is. Hard for me to do any comparison cause it is my first RV, however the toy hauler is awesome. I can take a ton of stuff, it also ends up being a guest bedroom, an office, a laundry room, a dining room that holds more people than the regular dinette, also dropping ramp and lowering the screen, it becomes a lanai.

Can't wait to buy a golf cart and park it in there, but having trouble finding a golf cart place that will call me back. Nobody seems to have any in stock. But will add garage to the list soon.

Thanks Bobbo, howís it climbing hills, does it have enough power?

Since itís new, I doubt youíve had any engine work or service performed, but Iím also wondering how hard it is to access the endings for service?

And howís the handling?

Canyon Star 3927

It has plenty of power. Bought it in Mesa, AZ, then drove to Vegas and back to Texas, so I hit plenty of mountains along the way and it did well. I also tow a Jeep Wrangler behind it. I cannot even feel that I am towing anything.

I have not had any service done, but when I was getting an inspection for registration in Texas, I asked a mechanic and he said that front engine diesels are actually easier to work on than diesel pushers. I have no idea if that is true, but he had no reason to tell me differently or if that statement is a matter of opinion.

It is my first RV, so I have no comparison on handling, but as a new Class A driver, I have had no issues and seems to handle well. Even backing has not been an issue. The rear camera and backing markers that display on the rear camera screen help a lot too.

I don’t know if the 340 would be ok, probably should have put the 400 ISL in it, but the price would go up!
I remember the 2007 Ellipse 40 FD had the 350 CAT standard and it was under powered, the 400 ISL upgrade was $10,000. Well worth it. Mine had the 400 ISL

The weight was 28,000 empty. So you might use this as a guide.

Thanks bobbo. What was your speed going up hills? We’re there a lot of vehicles passing you?

2cyber71, you bring up a good point, I was thinking the exact same thing, for a toy hauler should be a little bit more power, but I’ve never driven one so it’s hard to judge, that’s why I’m look for input.
