Car Play Option

We've been discussing the Xite navigation/radio system in another thread. Has anyone found an option to replace/update the current in dash system with something that uses CarPlay?

As screen sizes grow, this answer may be n/a or moot. I have not researched this for myself, and I could be wrong, but if Newmar is still using the “double Din” platforms for in-dash audio/Nav (as in our 2015 DS 4369), any double din unit should be a plug and play swap. I’d start here:

Wow! Thanks for the great info Bob! I appreciate it...
Hopefully someone with a 2021 model coach can confirm the radio is the same as previous years?

Bill, you’re welcome. For us old stereo gearheads, din and double din component swaps have been around for quite a while. Below is the reference that specs the two. It’s really just the size of the dash opening for mounting.

https://learn.sonicelectronix.com/head-unit-din-sizes/

The double din dash opening for an audio/Nav component is exactly twice the height of a single din opening (Just under 4” x 8” vs just under 2”x 8”.

Again, I could be wrong but I believe the bigger/newer 9 inch and even 10 inch screens are still using the double din chassis mounts and openings. In effect, the Bigger screen edges are laying on the dash rather than being flush withIn the dash. I would call Newmar and see if they can confirm that these newer units are still using a double din dash opening. But again -caution -I’ve not checked this myself.
