Carefree awning goes Wild !

Brought in (retracted) my Carefree Eclipse electric awning yesterday - Qhen I cam back from a visit in the Resort, the Awning was fully extended
My Model has 1 exterior toggle switch underneath the arm near passenger side and has 2 indoor buttons, one for POWER and one for extend and retract.
The only way the awning would retract was to put the switch on POWER and use the outdoor toggle and as soon as it was in, I had to shut the POWER inside since the cycle was beginning again without orders or touching any buttons - I notice that this toggle switch does not appear on newer models of Carefrees - Notice also that we had +++ rain in our area (Clearwater-Dunedin). Water will go down the arm freely and pass through the toggle exterior switch - Verified all connections which seemed dry and no damage outside or inside connections - What is going on... a short ??
Thanks !

It could have been water, is like a mouse can get through space you would think it could not.
You said power was shut off inside so how could it short to put down awning.
Its sure nice to have these expensive coach's but the headaches.
Maybe GaryKD or someone else has a answer.

I replaced my OneTouch with Elipse arms a year ago. The Elipse didn't come wtih the control board the OneTouch had, but I believe there is at least one relay in the wiring hookup ...I wonder if a relay shorted out could it go to full on? Or if that outside switch shorted due to water intrusion that would do it ...since you suspect rain water I believe I would disconnect & bypass that switch and see if it behaves as it should? I think a call to Carefree is in order ...maybe they can at least give you some ideas of what to look for.

Hi Renden,
There may be something more than a rain storm going on here. I do not have a Carefree. Like previously posted, contact Carefree with what you have said here. A&E has a solid state control board. If Carefree has one, that is where many mysteries can be solved.

Lazydays Carefree Tech went over my problem - the 2 switches (outside and inside to retract and extend) were mixed up - fixed that in 1 hour - no parts - Great Service !!

Must have been a Monday or Friday back at Newmar when they were wired.
I had a sewer pipe drop out of floor flange was never glued when installed.
Makes for a smelly mess before you realize whats happened.
