Cargo light switch

2006 Newmar Dutch star cargo light switch indicates ‘on’’ all the time. The light will not go off. The cargo lights indicator should always be lit but the switch on and off indicator is always on no matter which way the switch is moved. Any ideas? Is the switch bad?

Welcome to the forum.
This sounds like a switch problem to me. I am assuming the indicator light is in the switch itself. In the on position the cargo lights should work. In the off position the lights should not work. Does the switch control the lights like it should?

We actually removed the cargo light switch and it didn’t make any difference to the cargo lights, they worked even with the switch totally removed??? Maybe a fuse?? Trying to track that down now.

It wouldn't be a fuse problem. If the fuse was blown there wouldn't be power to the lights. Is there another switch somewhere which may be on? There might be a relay somewhere which is stuck in the on (closed) position. You need a wiring diagram at this point.
Is this a problem which just showed up or has the light always operated this way?
Lynn
P S: you might want to ask a moderator to move this to the Newmar room. There are some very knowledgeable and helpful folks there who may have access to a wiring diagram for your coach if you don't have one.

Welcome Susan to the forum.
Is the switch marked cargo light switch?
Here is a link you should have and a Brochure & Owners Guide.
We really need someone with same coach to answer your question, I will have answers but not all of them, we can do a Newmar search and see what that may tell us, your answer maybe in the first post of this search.
All these links I gave you are in the first link I gave you for Newmar Owners sticky.
If that's not enough all the links below in my signature will help also.
Good luck with your new to you Newmar and safe travels.
