Carpet or mats for step

Interested in what folks have placed on their exterior steps to help wipe feet/shoes and keep dirt out of the interior. I've searched a few times, but unable to find threads that directly address this.

Thanks for any input!

Most RV accessories stores (Camping World, etc.) carry step pads for the outside steps. They are simple to install, they wrap around the step and are held in place with a tension spring under the step tread.

This is what I use. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004D17T8S...a-276505026217

I keep a shop brush in the step storage compartment and on occasion, I sweep off any dirt that's on the steps.

I purchased a few feet of indoor/outdoor carpet and used double sided tape to attach the carpet to the steps. I like the clean look this gives to the entry.

I got a “spun woven plastic” type at Camping World. Non carpet, they do a great job on removing dirt. You can also hose them off if you need to.

We took both our interior and exterior step measurements and made a cardboard template of the cockpit area then took them to a carpeting store that specializes in custom carpet sizing, fabrication and installation. They supplied us with carpet remnants that matched our color/style preferences, added non-slip rubber backings and serged (similar to binding) the edges of each carpet section. These have worked extremely well, look good and have been easy to maintain with frequent vacuuming and periodic removal and shampooing. We stow the black exterior step covers in a forward passenger side basement compartment when traveling.

I just recently installed these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 on the outside steps. I also bought an 8" and a 10" one's for the two inside steps. They work great.

While at the Tampa RV show I tried to get the 30" step covers from Wade, but they would not work me on how to get them.

Our RV has factory installed exterior rubber stair tread (on the inside steps). Outside we have a half-circle door mat. Exterior steps have non-slip grit. A whisk broom is hanging next to passenger seat. We are in FL and mostly wear flip-flops which are left at the door.

We just use a regular door mat at the bottom of the steps. To us adding carpet to the steps or inside the coach is harder to sweep/vacuum than the tile floors.

We also leave our shoes outside, especially if they are dirty.

We use heavy indoor outdoor carpet cut in pieces to fit the two steps in our 2000 DSDP. The rectangular bottom step is held in place by the white door frame. We finally figured a way to secure the irregular size top step. We cut an small angle piece and glued it to the right side. The larger piece for the step is kept in place by the small piece.

I found a remnant at a local carpet store that is a perfect color match. I cut cardboard templates for the front seat floors and had them edge bound. I cut the leftover remnant into strips that fit the steps.
Once a year I move the top step down to the bottom, put down a new one on the top step and toss the dirty bottom step carpet.

So i got those wrap around step covers that fasten using springs underneath. The Dutch star steps retract and are very tight to each other as they close. I'm wondering if i can retract them with the step covers on. I don't want to have to put on and take off every time

Anyone have experience?
