Ceiling Lights

I really feel stupid asking this one, but how do I change a ceiling light in my 2015 DS 4369? In my previous coach you simply unplugged the bulb assembly and put a new one in, on this coach I haven't been able to figure out what to do. They appear to be hard wired in, but hopefully I am having a senior moment and they are actually very easy to change. As always thanks for any and all comments!

They are hard wired. First unscrew the frosted cover. Light housing pulls straight down. Then cut wire nearest housing, splice and push new light up as 3 prongs hold it in place.Click image for larger version

hardwired

They are hardwired. They are LED lights and so theoretically will last years and years without needing to be replaced. But, some of the 2015 Dutch Stars (including mine) got a batch that had a new solder which caused them to fail one by one. This is a known problem. If you call Newmar, they'll send you replacements. They are very easy to replace yourself once you get the new ones. Pull it out (I use a little pry bar to help get it started), cut the two wires as close to the old fixture as possible to retain your wire length, and attach the wires with electrical tape and wire nuts. Then push it up into the ceiling. Nearly all of ours went bad within the first 6 months and we've replaced them. None of the new ones have gone bad.

Thanks John, I would have never seen that. My coach is listed so I will be calling Newmar tomorrow, checked the dates on the back of the light and they match up! I am on a lot of forums for various subjects but none come close to this one!

Thanks for posting this one. I have a 2015 Canyon Star 3424 that is on the list. Of course the lights are starting to fail in bunchs. Spoke with Newmar and they informed me that my lights were not covered. But after checking the report it appears that they are. Hopefully Newmar will reevaluate this since I sent them pictures of the fixtures and the report. Stay tune.

Spoke to Bruce at Newmar. He informed me that Newmar is going to send me replacements for not only my failing lights but all my lights since it was a service bulliten item. I will put them in myself but really impressed with Newmars device support on this. Loving Newmar even more. Makes me feel really good about getting a Newmar.
