Centramatic Balancers

Do these work on drive axel? I have slight vibration at 60-65 on my Dutch Star.

I had used balancing beads on our last MH and that worked well. On this one I installed Centramatic balancers and felt too much vibration at 65mph. So recently had the front tires balanced when they off for a leak and rotation. Now the RV handles much better. I'll be getting the rear tires balanced as well. I did leave the balancers on the hubs.

Centramatics will tell you that you don't need to balance your tires/wheels before installing the Centramatics. I disagree. I sold tires in my younger days and did a lot of wheel balancing. Some RV tires can take 6+ ounces to balance. I want the Centramatics to fine tune the balancing, not trying to do the entire job.

With that said, I've installed Centramatics on all axles of my last three DP's including the tag axle. I'm very finicky about the ride of my coach and like all wheels/tires balanced.

Some will say that they've never balanced their rear tires and can't feel the difference. That hasn't been my experience. Even though they say they can't feel the difference, out of balance tires will wear poorly and shorten tire life.

I have them on all 6 wheels and I agree with DS Don to balance all tires and wheels then use the Centramatic to fine tune. I did have a vibration that I could not get rid of at 60 mph and after installing the Centramatics it was gone.

DSD,
I'm almost always in agreement with your posts and appreciate all you do/ have done for iRV2.
I have to disagree with you position re balance affecting tire life... at least on a MH.
Not many of us ever "wear out" MH tires as they age out long before they are worn out. You and a few others (full timers?) May put enough miles on to actually wear out a tire??

Not sure I would use balance beads with the Centramatic disk. I would prefer to have them balanced with lead weights when having Centramatic disk.

Put them on all 3 axles with no weights when I installed 6 new tires. Made a 3200 mile trip and love them . Even my wife who doesn’t drive says she feels a difference when standing in the middle of the coach going down the road

I use centramatics on all 3 axles and have had no trouble or vibration. Same thing DW says coach is more stable with no vibrations. Tires balanced before installation.

Put them on my coach when i bought it and at the same time as put new tires on. Shop wanted to not balance the tires but I told them balance tires as if you were not putting on Centramatics. happy with them

I am sorry I should have posted that I have had the tires balanced twice one when they were installed and again after the first trip. Still has some vibration in the rear because I can only feel it in the seat nothing in the steering wheel. Thanks
