Changing out Chassis Batteries
Newmar quoted me $983.54 to replace 2 chassis batteries, cost of battery $426.51 each. Seems a bit high. Anything special about these that I can't do myself or have local Cummins do? Is there a procedure where certain things have to be shut down before replacing them?

Wow... Better be two fantastic batteries. Last time I needed chassis battery a trip to walmart netted two of their top batteries with good warrant and support nationwide - for about $250 out the door. Then maybe a half hour to change them out.

I replaced my two chassis batteries in 2012 with a NAPA battery for $225.54 (total). I called Spartan for see what minimum CCA they recommended. I am an electrical moron and I was able to do this myself. I sketched a diagram of the connections and backed that up with pictures.

A dedicated battery shop can likely be found with reasonable prices and they will install.
Most any independent automotive shop would likely install your provided walmart, Napa, or other brand battery for an hour's labor charge.

Ok, I agree that changing my batteries to Trojan T-125s was a bit hard due to their weight but at $426 per battery charged by a dealer I'd sure do it myself again.

I had interstate batteries replace my Chassis batteries last April. Good price and they did the install and cleaned up the area.
I chose to purchase AGM batteries @ $330 each. A little low on the CCA (below 32 degrees), but the batteries are working great.

What kind of batteries were they? That's not a bad price if they were Lifeline 8D AGM's. If they were starting batteries only then it's way too high. I bought 4 new 925 CCA starting batteries for about $90 each from a CAT dealer.
