We're in the pre-order process of going over options/specials we want in the King-Aire.

I know we want 8 AGM house batteries, but are unsure whether to specify AGMs for the chassis batteries. Your advise on which batteries are best as chassis batteries would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sue

In my opinion, the standard Spartan supplied engine batteries are they way to go. They have substantially higher cranking amps than any deep cycle battery, including AGM type.

The reason AGMs are so popular for house batteries is their length of life and withstanding being charged and discharged all the time.

Chassis batteries are typically at full charge most of the time. In my opinion, you could go w/AGMs and have the nothing but the best. However, it just may be a waste of money. I have to start my rig in Buffalo in January and February and have never had a problem. That is on two different coaches.

Sorry, chimed in before seeing Peter's much more succinct post. What he said.

Ditto Lug... I think Newmar will really balk at AGM'ing the chassis for this reason.

Ditto Java... adding that AGM's don't make the acid mess (white powder) that flooded cells do.
