I cross posted this on the Workhorse forum too but thought you al might have insight into the problem too.

So my previous battery seemed to die a few weeks ago, wouldn't hold a charge nor jump off (or work with house battery boost) so I took it in to get a new one. It read 5v and they said it was dead. Come home install new battery and it didn't seem to have enough charge to start it so I put the charger to it for a day. Started fine after that, went out last Friday and it's dead again. Same as before, won't hold a charge, won't jump off, and is reading 5v again. Did I just get a bad battery or is there something killing the battery? It's on a W22 chassis with a gas Chevy 454 8.1L engine, 2006 Newmar Kountry Star.

You have a Workhorse chassis with the Chev 8.1 engine and Allison trans as mine was, with info in this link for your chassis and battery charging systems link and problem solving answers and the links come from this large sticky, plus all links in my signature have answers for older coach's.
Make sure you check you negative battery cable to chassis frame for a good tight clean connection.

Thanks! That's where I was going to start looking was the ground. I had looked through some of those links and found the wiring diagram to get me started. I'm just surprised that it would drain a new battery that fast and not let it re-charge when disconnected.

When your charging your batteries you need both a good ground and battery connections for current to flow through the battery, it completes the circuit.

Ok so here's my update. Took dead battery back and got a new one that was fully charged. Hooked it up and nothing, would not start. Tried unhooking shore power and it started but steps won't come out. I did test voltage across the battery while it is running and it reads 14.5v so it should be charging while running at least.

While testing other issues I tried to put the house batteries in "storage" mode and it wouldn't do it, I normally can hear the solinoid switch it over but no sound at all and nothing happens. I've checked most of the fuses in the BIRD but need to finish checking the rest. I've read on the Intellitec manual that there are two fuses for it but I can't seem to find them. Does this sound like the Intellitec Battery Disconnect or the BIRD itself is bad?
