Chassis Battery Replacement Recommendations

My current chassis batteries are over 7 years old. I have some long trips planned for the summer and don't want to suddenly find myself with dead batteries so I am planning on replacing them. Do I need to stick with the Alliance batteries or are there other suitable or better alternatives I can find in East Tennessee?

Thanks for any thoughts.

IMO no particular need to stay with Alliance, however....
I've had my OEM Alliance battys in a 2013 VTDP and still working OK but also considering replacing now before next extended trip.
Have also heard good things about them so wanted to stay with them.
Called a few local shops and Freightliner shops but none carried Alliance.
Turns out East Penn makes them so considering other brands made my East Penn. I may end up with Sams Club Duracellsvas they are also mfg by EP.

I just replaced mine with NAPA brand commercial. Easy remove/replace. Threaded studs with new terminal nuts. East Penn MFG.

I would just find matching amp and physical sized batteries.

I would call the local Freightliner dealer and talk to parts. End of last year they had original equipment(groupe 31) start batteries on sale for $89.00.

I use the Walmart deep cycles for the house, and their regular battery for the motor.
Good warranty and available at any store.

You need to know the minimum CCA. Contact your chassis manufacturer.

If you want the best- go to an AGM- Maintenace free- no out gassing & more duty cycles. I put a Lifeline (best AGM's on the market IMHO) in my coach 4 years ago & its still going strong. I had a Lifeline chassis & house batteries in my 05' MADP that were still going strong after 9 years!

There's a reason Newell, Liberty, Marathon & Featherlite all use Lifeline batteries ! You'll pay more but get a whole lot more!

Happy Trails

We use Napa for our batteries. That way they can be warrantied anywhere in the United States. Make sure you get 31 series heavy duty batteries with threaded post.

Also NiRVC is in LaVegrne currently but moving to Lebanon end of the year if you need anything with your coach.

Chassis battery replacement 2018 DSDP

My Harris Group 31 Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) C31SHD-13H
chassis batteries start fine and load test OK but are now 4y.o. and I am considering upgrade to AGM"s after recent battery compartment cleaning and POR 15 application. We are on the road all winter with numerous stops in some remote spots,
Can I simply switch over to these or is there an alternator or other charger configuration needed?
Are Northstar batteries worth it, or stay with national brands like NAPA or Costco? TIA!

You can switch with out any other changes. I'd wait a few more years though, if yours are still good.
A garden hose over the batteries goes a long way to keeping away the corrosion.

You'll love AGM's. No more worry about filling or keeping them clean. Once you make the change, you need to note what batteries you installed and call Magnum while in the coach. They will walk you through the correct settings for the new AGM's and make sure your other settings are correct.

He's replacing the chassis batteries, you don't want to change the Magnum setting for that.

I was told using AGM's for your chassis was not cost effective. I buy from NAPA, in case I have a warranty issue.
