Chassis question

From looking at Newmar's site, it seems that the Spartan Chassis was not offered from 2011 to 2016, only the Freightliner is shown.

Was there a reason for not having Spartan available? Or am I missing something

Just curious

Spartan did not supply any chassis to Newmar for these years. I’m suspecting they had too many military contracts?

Spartan larger chassis's were supplied for the top of the line Newmars, K2-K3.
Some models now they are a option instead of the FL.

Another part of FL getting most of Newmar business on diesel chassis is FL had purchased thousands of Cummins engines before the 2010 federal smog laws changed so FL could under cut Spartan chassis cost by about 10K$. Spartan being a smaller company didn't have the deep pockets to buy that many engines before 2010.

Maybe I'm missing something, but no matter how many non-smog engines you have on hand, you can't put them in a vehicle after the smog rules took effect.

Yes you can put pre-smog engines in newer coaches. Many Essex's in 2010 had 500 ISM in them that were stop being used by Cummins in 2009. There are coaches with engines that are 2 or more years from when the coach was built.

Not correct Cruzbill.

Many if not most ‘07 coaches don’t have DPF. Many of not most ‘10 coaches don’t have DEF. Chassis builders stock piled engine build before the EPA date and effectively put off the requirement one model year.
