Cleaning up the tail lights

I have been looking at my cloudy and dull taillights for some time now. Yesterday I picked up a Mothers PowerBall 4Lights Headlight Restoration Kit. I am amazed at the results. Here are before and after photos.

A couple of observations. When I removed the lens covers, I was shocked at the amount of dirt, debris, and bug carcasses in the fixtures. Even the bulbs were mostly covered with dirt. Turns out there is a dime-size hole in the back of the fixture where the 12 volt lines enter. The hole is much too large and allows anything to come in. So I ended up caulking the holes closed after cleaning everything. I was surprised Newmar wouldn't think of sealing those holes a bit during installation. I suggest you take a look at yours if you have similar fixtures.

Looks good . Used this on headlights on my DWs 06 civic like new now. The car has 250,000+ on it and that really cleaned the lights.

Getting ready to hit the road, But still getting answers. So thanks for the help! 2006 Winnebago Sightseer 29R Ford F53. Roadmaster Eagle 8000. 2001 Ford F150 7700 4x4. Still shopping for toad brakes. FMCA F286179

Nice job Hobo. Yes it would seem Newmar was remiss in that tail light design. My '07 has a different style tail light and todate they are still clean. I recently had my headlights restored and they are much clearer than before. Thanks for a great post w/pics!
