We are heading to the Camp Newmar in Nappanee, and really want to have our coach washed. Does anyone have a recommendation of who can do this in the area?

I've been there for a total of two weeks and never saw any wash places. Pretty much everyone does their own.

As dusty as camp Newmar is it doesn't do a lot of good to wash it until you leave.

We were there (Nappanee) for 2-weeks in late May of this year and there was no one to be found to wash/detail our coach (or better, no one reasonable).

There is one guy, i.e. Norm's Pressure Washing that the Newmar techs in Bldg 42 highly recommended but he was not available as he was closed due to being out of the country doing missionary work at that time. He may be back now.

The only other one we could find was HOP's in Elkhart but they quoted us $450 for a exterior wash only and there was no way we'd pay that much just for a wash. There was another one north of Elkhart but they too quoted us $400 just for a wash. nb: I've never paid more than $250 for just a wash anywhere and won't. Typically, the cost we've found in most RV Parks/Resorts offered by remote/on-site detailers referred to us by such campgrounds has been between $150-200 which seems fair.

As other's have made mention, its always windy with lots of dust around Camp Newmar so having your coach washed before you go or while there may not serve you well.

I'm in the wrong business if you're paying $250 to get your coach washed. The most I've paid for a wash was $100 and I just had the entire coach washed and detailed while in NC and it was $320 for everything. High quality and nice job too. They showed up at our site and did everything there on site.

$300 and up seems to be the norm in California. I paid $140 coach and car wash and hand wax in Yuma last year.

I do my own, too cheap to pay someone to do it for me although right now I'm laid up at home recovering from jnee replacement.
In all the years I've been RV'ing (1957 on) I've never paid to wash/wax a rig. That will end this year as I got into a tree that had 12' clearance and the rig requires 13' so need the scratches buffed out.

I have a related wash question. For those who have waxed their Newmar, is it ok to use an electric buffer to apply wax? I received one as a gift a few years back that has yet to come out of it's box. A large MH seems to be the perfect use case.

I use a porter cable orbital buffer for application using a special color pad, made for wax application. Also remove wax with microfiber draped over, what looks like lambs wool. I do it in sections so about a 4 hour job.

If it is a straight "buffer", be very careful as they can "burn" your paint if not used properly.

What most detailers use is actually an orbital sander. The head rotates and it also moves in an orbital motion preventing the polishing head from staying in one place. Of course a buffer head is attached (velcro), you can see these and polishing pads at Griot's Garage and I am sure Maguire's sells them also. I know Griot's actually sells the polisher.

Mine "polisher" was made by Cable, I used it on a corvette I owned and showed. Sure is better than straight bicep power not to mention the residue of aches and pains.....LOL

I am somewhat of a car detailing fanatic and I follow the video by Mike Phillips from Autogeek.net.

Mike really knows Detailing and the owner of Autogeek has a DSDP. You can use any of the dual action polishers like porter cable or flex on a coach (I use the flex polisher) and they sell McKee’s RV all in one cleaner polish I use on my Ventana. It’s a big job and can take more than a day to do it top to bottom. The results are amazing. You can get all the supplies you need from Autogeek or detail image.
