Coach water pump for interior when not connected to city water
Hi Folks!
2007 Newmar Ventana 3935 DP here. Just bought her a few weeks ago and still combing through manuals and learning. Quite overwhelming since our prior RV was a travel trailer.
I was wondering if the interior water pump is supposed to run constantly when the switch is turned on, or is it supposed to build up enough back pressure to automatically shut off (when not hooked to city water source)? I had accidentally left the switch in the on position overnight and heard the humming when I came out the next morning. I turned it off manually. Fortunately I did not overheat it and burn out the motor. I checked all of my interior water sources and the wetbay outside the coach to make sure no water was turned "on". Now I'm just turning it on and off on an as-needed basis if I need to use water, because I don't want to burn it out. My inferior travel trailer pump would cut on and off as the pressure was needed. The one in our Newmar now runs the entire time the switch is on. Good pressure and waterworks appear to work fine, but I don't want to prematurely burn out the motor (unless it's designed this way).
Please advise. Thank you, Chris L.
