Thumbs up Comfort Drive is "Da Bomb"!

When we first started investigating Newmars, one of the questions we had was about Comfort Drive. I posed a question when we were looking at a '13 Ventana LE and most said to hold out for a coach with CD and are we glad we did.

The first real test of of CD was when we made the 5+ hour drive from Nappanee home in a steady wind with gusts of 20-25 mph and we think higher. Gary simply dialed up the CD, then sat back & drove with no death grip & no constant jacking the wheel around and I didn't have to help by white knuckling the arm rests! AND... we stayed off the rumble strips!! We did feel the gusts but weren't blown sideways & the recovery was much smoother with less effort.

The difference between driving & riding in our Ventana vs our gasser is wider than the Grand Canyon. Obviously, the Ventana is heavier & we're 6' longer now which we knows plays some part in the handling but Gary feels that CD is what made the huge difference in handling the coach in the wind.

Thanks to iRV2 for recommending Comfort Drive & a major thanks to the genius that designed it and to Newmar for recognizing the difference CD makes in driving these big boxes down the road!

People often ask me about the Comfort Drive system. I love it, but often forget that it's there. In our old coach, 36' Diplomat, you knew when the winds were gusting and tensed up accordingly until you got through them. With the CD, I usually only notice the winds because of what other rigs are doing or seeing signs like trees bending and debris flying around.

Many who don't have it say a good handling coach doesn't need it. That often makes me think maybe they're right until I start looking around and realizing how often the CD system mitigates the wind and I just lose track of how well it's been working.

That's exactly the intent of the thing, kinda like the stagehands at a live play. You only notice them if they mess up.

How in the world did our big rig truck drivers deliver the goods without comfortdrive and the gps to do their jobs ? That's like asking how did our ancestors survive without government assistance. Progress is such a wonderful thing.
