I was talking to a fellow Mountain Aire owner this weekend and he said he has had a coolant leak develop where the hydrohot hoses come and go from the engine..he showed me where the problem was and how to temporarily fix it by turning off the 2 valves at the engine by going thru the bedroom floor so you can stop the leak and travel again. How common is this ...I havent heard about it before???

Larry and Pat,
I had a 2006 MADP 4304 and had those hoses burst 3 times. It makes a terrible mess and shorts out the inverter and any thing that runs though it. The hoses on the engine assist hot water are the ones we are talking about, the problem with the fix is they run through the chassis and have to be abandoned and rerouted on the other side. My coach ended up at the factory for the job. Hope this helps you.
Thanks, Daryl

Mine was just spliced. The truck shop that did the work sure had nothing good to say about the quality of the hoses used. They showed me the difference and just shook their heads that any company would use the hoses Newmar put in there. What I have done since then is to not use the Hydro Hot any more than I have to. They seemed to think the heat on the hose was part of the deterioration problem in the hose.

I haven't had a chance to look at ours. Are the hose regular automotive heater hose or the hydro hot hard plastic? If they are automotive heater hose they will deteriorate over time.

John,
The hoses were light weight heater hose, not plastic. Newmar might have changed this because they knew they had an issue. I don't think my 2008 has the engine assist domestic hot water.
Thanks, Daryl
