I'm planning to do the same rebuild & replace w AGMS.
I have already purchased a can of POR15 based on other threads and positive reviews. I understand that stuff is the gold standard for tough service & chem resistance. It is not UV resistant and needs over coat if exposed to UV but batty tray not a problem.
So far my latch & slide operate OK so no info on those.

POR15 is good stuff. There are UV-resistant variants. But UV isn't going to be a big problem in the closed bay.

Someone mentioned painting the inside of the tray with bedliner material. That sounds intriguing, in an attempt to ward off corrosion in the future. What do you guys think of that? Has anyone here done that?

I had 8 wet cell Interstate batteries that corroded the tray and cables. I completely removed the tray, sanded it then sprayed with bedliner. I replaced all the cables and installed new Duracell agm batteries. I did this 18 months ago and everything still looks like new.

I used POR15 as a base coat because I had quite a bit of pitting in the tray bottom. I wanted to make sure the rust didn't come back. I then used Rustoleum primer on the areas that did not have any pitting and just a bit of surface rust. I then coated it with a satin black Rustoleum.
