Cummins caps pump ISC330

I just turned 90,000 miles on my 2001 DSDP Dutch Star. I am faced with replacing the CAPS pump for the second time. Approx cost with labor is $4500. I am told that the CAPS pump is a notoriously lousy design and unreliable product. Can anyone verify this? If it is lousy, has anyone ever had any getting Cummins to offset the repair costs? Apparently they are no longer making new ones, so a reman is the only option. The reman warranty is only good for one year. I would appreciate any thoughts/comments, etc.

On our trip to Alaska this summer one of our group driving a Holiday Rambler had a pump fail and replaced it in Anchorage. The truck dealer that did the work paid for the pump thinking that they had caused it due to contamination. Other than that I have not heard of a lot of failures. I have heard of a couple and always it was noted that they are very sensitive to contamination.

I have 91K on my ISC 330 Cummins. So far, no problems.

Thank you to KAJO, Garykd, and 007 for the inputs. I find this frustrating. Not much choice except to throw money at the problem. Can't find a flaw in my maintenance procedures. I would feel that Cummins had faith in their CAPS system if they were willing to warrant it for more than 12 months.
Thanks again.
