Great information here.
My wife stopped by Cummins and picked one up.

Since I have a 99 ISM L11
I have a different connector.
I started another thread and a forum member fornd an adapter for .e from Amazon, under $70.
So we will find out soon if it will read older Cummins engines???
Has anyone tried yet ?

Bruce....the info you and Woody provided is what I was looking for. Why couldn't Cummins be as clear. I like the idea that you emailed them and got more information.

Don, I’m in your camp, the reader isn’t a catch all, but it will direct me to an issue/problem and gives me options to fix it myself or to conduct a conversation with Cummins. It is another very useful tool in my toolbox. I agree with you, Cummins doesn’t put a lot of info out on the inline mini. That’s one of the reasons why I didn’t buy it right away. Once I pinned down a Cummins Rep that understood the inline and talked to me for a solid 30 minutes about what I could do with it and the options (it wasn’t a sales pitch, I engaged him) it gives me, it was a no brainer! I had an advantage because we were at the FMCA Rally in Perry, GA, when my Wife gave me the authorization to buy it. I went back to the coach and tried it and the Cummins website would not allow me to sign on. I went right back to the Rep and he said he forgot to tell me to bypass the “sign-in” - that’s the subscription service. Once I passed on the sign-in, everything worked great. Another lack of info on Cummins part - I think they just want as much $$$$ as they can get! If you get one, you’ll see, it’s a useful tool.

Bruce

Does anyone know if the similar-looking NEXIQ Blue-Line units will produce Cummins codes? I'm guessing that the patent/copyright issue that apparently keeps the ScanGauge D from displaying Cumins codes would apply here too. I can't seem to find that info on the NEXIQ website.

Thanks "DS15"....my local dealer has one, but I wasn't willing to pull the trigger until I knew if it would clear codes. In reality, I can get Freightliner to read a dash code, but there are times I want to clear the ones I think are just glitches.

Just found some info that indicates the NEXIQ is only a reader; it won't clear codes. That's a no-go!

We found on our 18 LA with Spartan K3 chassis and the new X-15 engine both of our previous code readers won't connect to the new green plug in. Talked with Cummins and the new ECM needed more and faster speed so the new ECM code readers are needed to use with the newer engines.

Cummins in-line mini / Guadanz App

Maybe I missed the answer.

Are you able to clear fault codes using the inline mine and the Guidanz app?

No it won't clear, only reads. Answer was 2 posts up.

The Cummins Inline is actually made by Nexiq. Same thing but cheaper cause its not red with a C on it.

That’s a J1708 connector; per the spec should be supported.

>> SAE J1708/J1587 (9600 b/s)

We use this supplier for our vehicle cable needs; this adapts the way you’d need.

Cummins mini with Guadanz app capabilities??

The post 2 up is referring to the NEXIQ product. I want to know if the Cummins in-line mini coupled with Cummins Guadanz app has the ability to clear codes.

I'd been led to understand that the Inline-mini reader with the Guidanz Mobile APP would read and clear codes. BUT NO! I just had a short "Chat" session with Cummins and the answer was NO. This combination only reads codes, explains codes, and passes them onto Cummins if you want. It won't clear them.

The guy said I'd need "Insite" to clear codes. And "Insite" requires a subscription.

In my opinion this code reader is still very valuable and I'm glad I have it. But I'm disappointed it won't clear codes. Hopefully a future software update will allow that. If this is even a software issue. Maybe the Inline-mini is just a reading device and can't transmit (and therefore can't clear).

Thanks Woody,
Have you seen the OTR Reset Tool | Cummins. https://otrperformance.com/collectio...t-tool-cummins
It resets the codes and also will perform a forced parked regen on the DPF.
YouTube reviews and demo videos are from truck drivers/mechanics. Still it is done on Cummins engines thru the 9 pin connector.
About $500.

No, I didn't know about that tool. Thanks. But at $500 I'm not sure I need one.
