Cummins ISC 330

I recently took my coach in and had the chassis serviced. I took a trip this past weekend and when I got home, found some fluid on the back of the coach. A cap is missing, but I'm not sure what the cap is for? Is this coolant or something else?

Where is the best place to find a part number and order a replacement cap?

Hi johno51,
I have the same engine as you. The cap in question is for the coolant. The opening goes to the expansion tank. You will need to replace the cap ASAP. Before replacing the cap, make sure the coolant is above the sight glass on the expansion tank.

That's the coolant tank and it's a pressurized cap. You'll need to top off the collant.

In hot weather, you probably would have overheated without the cap.

I would be paying the service place a visit.

Thanks, and I will if I have time to get over there.

I have a new part on order directly from Spartan.

Should be here in a couple of days prior to the weekend. Spartan says that I can put any "extended life coolant" from the auto parts store.

Ok - service center says to bring receipts....seems the least that they could do.

Any idea how much coolant I'm going to need to buy? Obviously it depends on how much is missing. Does anyone know the max capacity that I'm dealing with?

Make sure you get the correct coolant, red or green.

How do I know which is correct? Spartan's only guidance was "extended life coolant".

You should not need more than a couple of gallons. Capacity of my coach is 12 gallons.

You might want to search this forum for info on what coolant to use.
Generally Cummins ISC (and others) call for a coolant that contains and additive to protect the engine from damage caused by cavitation.

I believe that a coolant showing that it meets ASTM D6210 is reccommended. I bought coolant from Cummins it was not expensive and was Zerex brand meeting this standard.

I use fleetguard coolant bought from Cummins/Onan in Denver made OEM for the cummins Engine. Blue in color and w/proper additives.
