Cummins x-15 605 def usage

Greetings fellow newmar owners…I noticed this coach rarely does an active regen…..in fact usually I go several thousand miles between them…I avoid idling etc etc but…I have also been monitoring my def usage because it seemed high, based on initial estimates of 2% of diesel use…..the last 5,000 miles my def usage has been right at 5% of diesel usage,I avoid bio diesel as much as possible, and generally don’t run the coach very hard…65mph pulling a jeep…does 4-5% def usage indicate a problem with the after treatment system???thanks joe b 2019 king aire

On our 18 LA with Spartan K-3 605 over the 30K miles of travel we are traveling about 100 to 120 miles to use 1 gallon of DEF. Have been getting right at 7 mpg so over 5% DEF usage. Have had 5 regen in the 30K miles which is about every 5 to 6 thousand miles.

My DEF usage on this new LA is the same as the last two Dutch Stars. I use 1/4 tank of DEF for every tank of fuel. I fill DEF every 4th diesel fill up. I usually fill about 100 gallons of diesel in my 150 tank, so probably 4 gallons of def to 100 diesel, 4%.

6.5 mpg towing a Jeep Wrangler. I now have 9,000 miles on this LA since July.

It seems this X15 doesn't regen as often as the ISL9 did.

Def usage x 15

Starting to sound like 4-5% def usage is normal in the x-15…along with rare active regens…..perhaps the higher passive use is the reason for fewer active regens…thanks to all who weighed in.joe b 2019 king aire

My 2019 LA is the same. Running about 4%.

Regen seems to be between 4000 and 5000.

Not a Newmar, but my Cornerstone 605 Spartan uses about the same as all yours. I get about 150 miles to a gallon of def fuel mileage around 7.5 mpg
I ask a Cummins rep why the 605 uses at least twice as much as the 450 Cummins since the fuel mileage is almost the same. Using their percentage figures the 605 should use about the same def. His explanation was that it’s not a matter of fuel usage it’s a matter of how much more air the 605 pumps.

My 2016 4018 Dutch star was getting 260-280 mpg on DEF. Our 2020 London Aire gets around 145-160 mpg on DEF last time I checked, this was about a year ago. I had about 15,000 miles than, I haven't checked since I currently have 35,000 miles.

My 2019 London Aire uses about 4 gals for every 100 gals of diesel. I also think it is odd that I have only had one regen in 13,000 miles.

As mentioned, our Cornerstone is in same ballpark for DEF usage.
