Custom RV Garage for 2024 Mountain Aire

Just posted the construction permit for a new RV garage we are starting on in January. Any thoughts, opinions or input would be appreciated. 55 X 30 with many nice features. Will keep interested parties updated.

Congratulations on a very nice luxury. Would love a 45x30 garage for ours. The best we had was a 50x25 concrete pad with shade. I would add some nice shelving and or lighted work benches. Never know when you need to do some fiddly work.
Oh,....a RV dump (sewer or septic) just on the outside of the garage would be good to add, if you can add it to the permit. We love having ours.

I have a 30 X 60 finished, heated garage with a full bath, including urinal (best thing in the bath).

Have hydronic heated floor, energy (heat) is stored in floor so when doors opened and circulating heat lost, heat in floor warms shop faster with less energy. I keep shop at 62°, tires stored on rubber mats, fluids aren't subjected to temperature extremes.

16 X 8 door on side as well as entry door in addition to 12' X 14' RV door.

installed 18 G Newage cabinetry, 50 amp service, bright LED overhead lighting

Elevated, enclosed storeroom with movable staircase at back of shop over full bath.
60 gal air compressor with 5 plumbed air outlets spaced around perimeter
and two air outlets plumbed in four car garage to same compressor.

Big freestanding stainless steel wash sink, drain in floor, dump station in floor near wet bay plumbedvto septic.

6 big windows, 4 sliders, one of which I opposite of RV door which helps exhaust

Inside hot and cold hose bib.

Elevated big screen TV

I would ask a few questions before offering any feedback.
Is this a DIY project?
Are you in the country or in the city limits?
Metal building or wooden structure?
Manual or electric overhead door opener?

Back in 2019 when we were shopping for our new RV we had a decision to make. Buy a DS and have to park it off site at a storage facility, or buy a Ventana and build an RV garage on our property.
We chose the Ventana and built a 50 X 21 which was the largest we could go.
This was the best decision we could have made. Having the RV at home just a few steps from the back door makes loading so easy. Plus, I never have to winterize.
Still wish for a DS, but if I had a do over, I wouldn't change it.

Floor drains for washing the coach inside. One of the best options in mine.

Good luck…

If you're going to have a shop air compressor, set it up in a separate room, or external room for noise reduction. You cold also size this room for storage of oils and other supplies.

Not DIY. We are working with the builder who built our home.
We live in a unique rural gated community on a 10 acre wooded piece of property
The structure will be all brick, with architecture similar to our home. Brand new structure.
Overhead sectional door. 16’W x14’H R19 insulated with side-mounted Liftmaster commercial electric opener

Building a motor home garage as we speak. Before building I poured over the posts on this form regarding what to do, and what others wished they had done differently.

The two things that my previous MH garage didn't have that I wished I had that I have added to my new garage:

- 50 AMP buddy plug on front outside of garage
- Lighting on the walls in addition to the ceiling

I had the 40x50 floors painted with epoxy. Really nice, but now I found I want to mop it to keep it looking clean. So I had to buy a mop and wringer bucket. Now I'm thinking a roomba.

We built a 40x50 shop for the rv and some old cars, as well as a somewhat oversized 3-car garage on the house. We had two 14 foot overhead doors installed in the shop, as well as 10' doors in the garage, by probably the dumbest humans in the world.
1. they put 3' long disconnect cords on the 14' doors. I cannot reach cords 11' in the air. I removed the cord above the rv, (too many things to snag) and had a cord down to 6.5' on the car side.
2. $15k worth of doors and the yard apes didn't install light bulbs in the openers.
3. Once installed, the morons put the remotes and the instruction books on top of the openers -- 14' in the air. Maybe take them back to their shop and I'll come get them. Or call me and ask "What shall wqe do witht the books and remotes?"

what he said PLUS the garage doors...spend the money and get the ones that are insulated from the factory at least r 19
we did on our rv garage and the doors face west..it can be 130 on the skin outside and 68 on skin inside

plus best insulation around the door
and add swing type wedges to push door skin tight to the seals. we only open ours to move the bus, ZERO air flows around the door.

LIGHTS all you can afford GOOD Ones

and did i say insulate above code,

i wish i had had the forethought about drains in floor under bus along its length
