Hi all, we are getting close to our purchase of a 2004 DSDP and was wondering if anyone would share their daily-on the road- check list with me ?

Before we pull out I always walk around the unit while DH is at the wheel. I check headlights, signal lights, and that all bay doors are closed and locked. Also check outside tv door, tires, awnings and antenna. While in back will make sure he can see me in the camera. Make sure all jacks are retracted. Inside make sure all cabinets, microwave and fridge securely closed.

It becomes routine

Read through - adapt to your needs - #10 is a daily check list.

We all sort of get into our own routine - For me the biggest issue is not to stop once I start, if I get a call on the phone or talk to a Neighbor I have to start all over, as I will inevitably forget or miss something. Get into your routine and I will guess you'll be fine.

A couple of items to add (from first-hand experience).

1. Did you put your water pressure regulator/filter in the coach?
2. Did you put your external surge suppressor in the coach?
3. Did you cap your coach sewer connection?

Develop a routine that requires you to put the above items in the coach BEFORE you stow the water hose, electric cord and sewer hose. It is all-too-easy to get focused on stowing the big items and leave the smaller ones behind.

Breaking Camp - Outside
Dump
Add water, if needed
Awning in
Disconnect utilities
Stow furniture, BBQ
Lock bay doors
Visually check jacks
Final walk around
Breaking Camp - Inside
Lock closet
Slides in
Build air
Jacks up
Antenna down
Lock shower door
Lock refrigerator
Awning in
Set GPS destination
Upon Arrival - Outside
Connect electric
Pads under jacks, if needed
Connect water
Connect sewer
Connect cable
Deploy awnings
Dump, if necessary
Upon arrival - Inside
Set up TV's
Level
Slides out
Unlock refrigerator
Furniture in place
Test LP, CO, smoke detectors
Check voltage meter

You might want to add a very important items to your list

1. Make sure your spouse, significant other is in the coach when you leave. This one might be the determining factor as to whether the next trip is feasible.

"Make sure your spouse is in the coach when you leave" that's funny! lol Yes, I can definitely see how that could certainly cause a problem. Of course, the magnitude of the problem would greatly increase the further away you got in the departure before realization hits...lol

As far as a checklist goes, IMO, much of it becomes habit after much repetition. For me, I have 2 small things that I printed with a label maker right by the radio/ignition as a reminder... 'Lower Satellite' and 'Check Toad E-brake'. Both of which I found out once that I had forgotten before having those little reminders. Once I drove down the road with my Travler Sat dish up before realizing I forgot it (thankfully I didn't go under any bridges etc.) and once I literally dragged my toad about a 1/4 mile before I realized I forgot to release the E-brake after putting my Patriot Brake unit in place for the trip. Thankfully both were uneventful, but those little reminders come in handy!

All those tips were good!

I'd like to hear the stories of how each person created those tips. I suspect most items were learned the hard way.

Like mine...which is having my wife go back by the toad and making sure all four wheels are turning while I slowly pull forward.

I made one up which I hung by the steering wheel when parked. I got into trouble with it, just as someone else mentioned here, because the last entry was "Check Wife and Dog on board".

I think I was okay until I included the dog in that statement. Wife took umbrage.

We were at a rest area in Indiana a month ago, parked next to another MH. I watched the neighbors get in their coach and drive away. Couple minutes later DH is coming back and gets stopped by a guy asking if there was a MH there when we got there. Yup, they just left. Apparently he went out to walk the dog and they didn't realize it. We had to lend him our phone to call them - he was not happy.....
